I have always had difficulty understanding how to make TrakAx do things, but others find its functions such as envelopes, beat matching etc to work very well. There is much to like about the HighAndes- developed application trakAxPC. It's biggest limitation for me is it's lack of beat matching. TrakAxPC is also a loops processor and video editing package. Lloopp's really cool - though it's more immersed in academic and high art approaches to application.
I'm pretty sure the guy responsible for this software is a MAC guy, and I can't help thinking it works better in this environment than it did for me on a PC. I think I prefer their earlier version to the current one. I Am The Mighty Jungulator is a pretty cool stand-alone, but pretty buggy and really limited. All are subject to the limitations of the programmers 'visions', but using one app to do one thing and then importing it into another free app can do some pretty amazing things.
There are a lot of good Max MSP stand-alone programs (either free or donationware) worth checking out as well. Compare and download free programs similar to TrakAxPC: Easy audio mixer,Voicemeeter,Free Video To Audio Converter. There's actually a really good supply of freeware out there that's more than adequate. Discover the best alternative to TrakAxPC. Post-production I mostly do with Audacity. I like playing my laptop and Axiom-25 as a single instrument and doing my recording that way. I'm currently using Ableton Live 7 LE, which is the cheap, stripped down version. I prefer doing it live, myself - at least in terms of arrangement and mixing. TrakAXPc is really a graphic interface multitrack, so I'm guessing you'll find it really familiar.
